How to run a transaction with discounted items or sale.

There are multiple ways to create and run discounts within Ricochet by discounting an

  • Entire transaction

  • Individual items

NOTE: Discounting an item affects the payout to the consignor.

First, understand the different discount absorb types:

Absorb type tells the software how the discount is divided among the store and the consignor or vendor.

Store Absorb: The store will absorb the entire discount amount and the consignor will still receive their full commission of the original price.

Standard: The most common discount is when the price of the item is reduced by the discount amount, and then the commission split is applied. Essentially this is equivalent to changing the price of an item before selling it and then having the commission split applied. This is also the default method, and how the Per Item discount has always worked prior to any discount feature updates.

Consignor: The consignor will absorb the entire discount amount, and the store will still receive their full commission on the original price.

NOTE: The most common and default absorb type is Standard, whereby the price of the item is simply reduced by the discount amount; the splits stay the same, but the item is now just cheaper than what it was originally listed as.

How To Discount An Entire Sale:

In Ricochet,

  1. Click POS

  2. Add Products For Sale one of two ways:
    1. Scan a printed Ricochet label bar code

    2. Search by Product Name or SKU

  3. Click the + icon on the bottom left, next to Transaction Discount

4. Select Percentage or Fixed Amount

5. Enter the amount to be discounted from the sale

6. Select the discount Type (Standard, Store, or Consignor)

7. Click Add Discount - verify the information you entered responded correctly

8. Complete Sale as normal

How To Discount Individual Items On A Sale:

In Ricochet,

  1. Click POS

  2. Add Products For Sale one of two ways:
    1. Scan a printed Ricochet label bar code

    2. Search by Product Name or SKU

  3. Click the + icon under the Discount column, to the right of the item details

  4. Select Percentage or Fixed Amount

  5. Enter the amount to be discounted from the sale

  6. Select the discount Type (Standard, Store, or Consignor)

  7. Click Add Discount - verify the information you entered responded correctly

  8. Complete Sale as normal
