Square Integration - USA & CANADA Only

Accept credit cards using Square's merchant service while ringing up sales in Ricochet.

Square offers many services, so please be advised that this integration is only available with Square's merchant and gift card services and is a Premium paid* add-on for USA and CANADA-based customers.

The integration is specifically designed to only work using Ricochet on a Windows or Apple Mac personal computer (PC) or Apple iPad (using the Ricochet POS iPad App).

Visit Square's website to sign up and choose your hardware.

CANADA

The only device supported for this integration for CANADA is Square TERMINAL.

USA

Devices compatible with this integration vary.

Refer to the different options below:

For Windows or Mac PC:

  • Square Terminal - The PC Choice for Ricochet and the only option for international customers.

For iPad:

REMINDER: For international customers the ONLY option that will work is the Square Terminal.

  • Square Terminal - The only option for international customers.

  • Square Stand - insert iPad into stand case - no separate readers required

  • Square Chip Reader - space saver that can be used on or off it's charging port

Integration Steps For Windows or Mac PC:

In Ricochet,

  1. Click Preferences

  2. Click Integrations

  3. Click the Square Payments tab with the Premium add-on indicator

  4. Select Monthly or Yearly payment plan

  5. Follow the pop up prompts to complete payment

  6. Click Authorize

  7. Prompted to log into Square, sign in and proceed to 'Allow' integration w/ Ricochet

    *NOTE: Your Square login process may require 2-Factor Authorization - complete as instructed through your login.

When rerouted back to Ricochet,

  1. Click Add Terminal

  2. Give it a name

    NOTE: If you have more than one location set in Square, select the Square Location that your transactions will go to.

  3. A 6 digit code will present itself and a spinner will appear signaling the connection attempt to the terminal

  4. On the Square Terminal do NOT use the user name and password credentials, there will be an option for you to select "use code", enter the 6 digit code as shown in Ricochet.

Integration Steps For iPad:

On iPad,

  1. Open the Ricochet POS app

  2. Slide out left hand menu

  3. Tap on Preferences

  4. Tap Integrations

  5. Tap the Square Payments tab with the Premium add-on indicator

  6. Select Monthly or Yearly payment plan

  7. Follow the pop up prompts to complete payment

  8. Tap Authorize

  9. Prompted to log into Square, sign in and proceed to 'Allow' integration w/ Ricochet

    NOTE: Your Square login process may require 2-Factor Authorization - complete as instructed through your login.

When rerouted back to Ricochet,

  • For USA customers, determine the primary device you will be using (Terminal, Chip Reader or Stand) and follow the steps outlined below:

    • Terminal:

      1. Tap Preferences

      2. Tap Integrations

      3. Tap Add Terminal

      4. Give it a Name

        NOTE: If you have more than one location set in Square, select the Square Location that your transactions will go to.

      5. A 6 digit code will present itself and a spinner will appear signaling the connection attempt to the terminal

      6. On the Square Terminal do NOT use the user name and password credentials, there will be an option for you to select "use code", enter the 6 digit code as shown in Ricochet.

    • Chip Reader or Stand:

      1. Slide out left hand menu

      2. Tap Preferences

      3. Tap Mobile

      4. Tap to Toggle ON 'Use Square Reader or Stand?'

      5. Tap POS

      6. Tap to Allow While Using App for "Ricochet POS" to use your location

      7. Tap Allow for "Ricochet POS" to access microphone

      8. Tap green settings icon at top of POS

      9. For Stand or Mag Strip, verify the device shows connected here

        1. Test a transaction

      10. *Chip Reader Additional Steps*

      If on Chip Reader, follow the steps below before you can test a transaction:

      1. Press the button on your Chip Reader for 3-10 seconds until 4 dots light up orange

      2. Once all 4 dots light up orange, release the button

        NOTE: If you tap Pair a reader before starting pairing on the device itself, you’ll be prompted to activate pairing on the device. After exiting the pop up, you’ll need to repeat the pairing process.

      3. Tap 'Pair a Reader'

      4. Place the reader next to your iPad to pair

      5. Once paired, test a transaction
